Biscuit bears and crochet blanket update

Hello lovely bloggers... in honour of Valentines Day yesterday I couldn't resist these two Mr and Mrs Bear biscuits in Sainsburys at the weekend. I do love an occasion it must be said! Always such a good excuse to get an extra bottle of wine, or indeed a biscuit or two, hehe...

My crochet blanket is very slowly coming along, and although it only gets attention only once in a while, I have got to that nice stage where I can fold it into quarters (making it look bigger than it actually is) and take some lovely pictures of the yummy (if a little bit clashing) colours...

I think it must be a symptom of getting older but I sometimes seem to forget about little crafty projects that I am halfway through and find them sometime a few months later! I found this little half finished crochet purse a couple of days ago which needs folding up and sewing together...

Think it would look quite cute if it was lined with some vintagey fabric in corduroy or brushed cotton...

We had some snow left in the garden this weekend... hasn't it been just sooo freezing the last few weeks!

It's amazing though how the signs of Spring are starting to emerge against the elements... can't wait to see the flowers on my Camelia plant...

And these white hyacinth... love the fragrance of these...

Hurry up Spring!

Rainy days and a courgette in the garden

Hello bloggers, yes it has been almost one whole month since my last post I am ashamed to say, and can honestly say that I am not sure how this has happened! What with this and that going on, it seems that the hands of time have been working overtime...

Anyway... I hope that you are having good weekends. We have had constant rain all day today which has not been too bad be honest as I have had no need whatsoever to step outside the house today - not even to Sainsburys Local! Don't you just love the sound of the rain (and thunder!) when you are indoors? So good for the garden. I really am in 'garden mode' at the moment - as I usually am this time of the year!

I am very chuffed to report that I have my very own first time ever home grown courgette!

These little blighters really do take up a lot of space in the garden but to think that I can pluck my courgette from my humble patio is very exciting, and also extremely useful too as otherwise I would definitely have had to make the journey to Sainsburys Local today to pay a whole pound for a shop bought one instead! 

I saw this recipe in Zest magazine this morning and think it looks quite nice, so in the pot Mr Courgette will go this evening...

I also spotted a flower on one of my chilli plants... just a little white one but also very exciting all the same!

It really is rainy right now...

Good job we covered the BBQ (A few too many times we have left it out to get drenched in the rain.... not this time! :) hehe)

I've discovered the art of making Yo Yos! This little crafty project is a brilliant way of using up odd scraps of fabric and buttons and creating colourful combinations, I love it...

They are so easy to make - all you do is cut out a circle of fabric and losely stitch a running stitch around the edge of the fabric. When you have sewn all the way around, you pull on the thread and the outside of the fabric gathers into the middle to make a Yo Yo flower shape. Then you just sew your button in the middle and there you have it!

The perfect way to make use of any lovely buttons...

Car Boot Sale and some Jammy Biscuits

Hello everyone...

I was chuffed to bits a few days ago when I spotted this set of blue stripey crockery in a charity shop. It is not the true proper Cornishware that I completely adore and have always wanted a complete set of everything of... it actually says Tesco on the bottom, but the beauty is that I got everything for a bargainous £7.50! That's 4 dinner plates, 4 bowls, 2 bigger bowls and 4 mugs...much better than what the other plates that we have had for ages...

To celebrate I have made some lovely jammy biscuits to go with them which I would highly recommend because they are delicious and SO easy and quick, especially if you whizz them in a food processer. The recipe can be found here

Last weekend I went to the Battersea Car Boot Sale with my fellow bargain hunter pal from Faith, Hope and Charity Shopping. (Who is a huge appreciator of all things vintage and is very good at spotting bargains!)

That particular Sunday afternoon, it was raining - not just a little bit but constant cold rain that didn't stop at all... however, we braved the elements and did not even have an umbrella between us - how hardcore is that!?

So it was not as busy as usual however I did pick up a few little treausures...

A 'Golden Shred' pepper pot for 50p...

A lovely candle holder with a handle and little compartment at the side to hold matches... this was £2

A sweet rabbit ornament, for free! (The nice car boot lady added it to the bag when we bought some gorgeous jam pots for £5...)

And a Poole Pottery egg cup for 50p...

I also bought a couple of skirts which were made of colourful fabric which a hope to use for a sewing project of some sort - haven't decided what yet!
