Car Boot Sale and some Jammy Biscuits

Hello everyone...

I was chuffed to bits a few days ago when I spotted this set of blue stripey crockery in a charity shop. It is not the true proper Cornishware that I completely adore and have always wanted a complete set of everything of... it actually says Tesco on the bottom, but the beauty is that I got everything for a bargainous £7.50! That's 4 dinner plates, 4 bowls, 2 bigger bowls and 4 mugs...much better than what the other plates that we have had for ages...

To celebrate I have made some lovely jammy biscuits to go with them which I would highly recommend because they are delicious and SO easy and quick, especially if you whizz them in a food processer. The recipe can be found here

Last weekend I went to the Battersea Car Boot Sale with my fellow bargain hunter pal from Faith, Hope and Charity Shopping. (Who is a huge appreciator of all things vintage and is very good at spotting bargains!)

That particular Sunday afternoon, it was raining - not just a little bit but constant cold rain that didn't stop at all... however, we braved the elements and did not even have an umbrella between us - how hardcore is that!?

So it was not as busy as usual however I did pick up a few little treausures...

A 'Golden Shred' pepper pot for 50p...

A lovely candle holder with a handle and little compartment at the side to hold matches... this was £2

A sweet rabbit ornament, for free! (The nice car boot lady added it to the bag when we bought some gorgeous jam pots for £5...)

And a Poole Pottery egg cup for 50p...

I also bought a couple of skirts which were made of colourful fabric which a hope to use for a sewing project of some sort - haven't decided what yet!

I hope that you are all having good weekends!

Wonky bunny ears

Hello everyone, I hope that you are having lovely weekends. Seems like a while now that I last posted a post... honestly where does the time go I wish we have more of it I really do!

I wanted to share with you a couple of makes that I have been working on recently...

This idea is from Martha Stewart and her pattern for 'Menswear Bunnies' which can be found in her book and also website - http://www.marthastewart.com/how-to/stuffed-bunny . Although I decided to use some of my favourite gingham fabrics and some more florally fabric for the ears.

I wanted to make them a bit more smiley to so after a few google searches taught myself how to embroider Satin stitch to do the eyes, nose and mouth.

As you will see, the poor green rabbit has back-to-front ears due to an error on my part during the sewing process. I have flip-reversed his ear for the photo to show you how it should have looked at the front...

Had a fab day today at the Battersea Car Boot Sale... even though we got drenched! Post to follow soon showing all the little treasures I found...

I noticed that recently I have reached 100 followers! Thank you lovely fellow bloggers for following me and also for your comments. It's fab to read all the other crafty and home made blogs out there it is very inspiring.

To mark the occasion I am planning a giveaway to include a selection of crafty goodies and vintage treasures - details to follow soon...!

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday

Spring flowers, seeds and some lovely fabric

Hello, I hope that you are all keeping warm on this very cold day! Honestly, walking through the park to the shops, even with gloves, hat, scarfs etc. all we wanted to do was get the bus... freezing.

So in my quest to try and get Spring to hurry up and arrive I wanted to share with you a lovely flower photo. I couldn't resist buying these beautiful bright tulips, especially as they are pink and yellow which is my favorite flower colour combination... and it's the first time that I have used my flea market find vase which I think I bought for a bargainous £2.50 or thereabouts...

There must have been some sort of green fingered moment going on when I bought these tulips because I was also seduced by the hyacinths and all the lovely packets of seeds in the supermarket (4 for 3, another bargain, hehe!).

I decided to get 2 types of chilli plant (my favourite veggie to grow, so easy and I love the fact that you can pick them and just leave them to dry out on the windowsill to get even hotter), sweet peas and oregano.

Here is a piccie of some gorgeous fabric that I bought recently with such cute little pictures and words on it - another one that I am almost tempted to frame!

Cakes, baskets, sewing machine, favourite dress, straw hat, flowers... sewing box and knitting.... I love homemade... make do and mend... just says it all really, very very sweet!

I hope that you are all having lovely weekends

A homemade home for the sewing needles....

Hello lovelies, just a quick post to share some pics of the little needlecase that I made yesterday. This is also in contribution to the Monthly Make Challenge which is hosted by Annie in her fabulous blog The Felt Fairy.

So incredibly handy - I didn't actually realise just how much I needed a new needlecase until I had made it and started putting all my needles in their new home. Up until now they have sort of been scattered in different locations and some still in their original packaging ... so it's nice to feel a little tiny bit more organised... (just need to tackle the storage issue for all my other things now!)

I found this vintage chinzty fabric from my little stash of fat quarters and love all the pinks and purples and blues... sigh, I could look at lovely fabrics all day...

We have been indulging in more recipes from the brilliant new 'Kitchen' book by Nigella. If you do own a copy and haven't made the Mexican Lasagne yet... it is lovely! We made this yesterday evening and would highly recommend. I did get questioned as to why we were cooking a meal that was supposed to be for eight people when there were only two of us, but the whole beauty of this (says Nigella) is that it tastes even better the next day. So we are having it tonight too! hehe

We also made the avocado salsa to go with the lasagne and it was just as yummy...

I hope that you are all having good weekends, and enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

A Splash of Colour

Hello everyone! I hope that you are having good weekends and 2011 so far...

Here is my photo contribution to the brilliant Splash of Colour Flickr group, organised by Silverpebble, which I think is a wonderful way to brighten up our days in the month of January...

Some buttons and bees....

Scrumptious candy coloured threads...

My lovely purple violas... planted in September and bloomed happily all through the winter! Amazing that they can survive such freezing temperatures and all that snow.

Behind them is my heather which I also love... it's so exciting the Spring is approaching I can't wait to see all the flowers and bright colours.

Yummy hot chocolate and spotty mug Christmas pressie...

Yesterday we visited the National Gallery in Trafalger Square... this was the view from the entrance... bit of a dreary day I know, but what a fab scene...

I managed to take a quick piccie of the amazing mosaic floor in the Gallery before I got told off for taking photos!  Oops

Tonight we are making this recipe from Jamie Oliver's 30 Minute Meals book...

Looks lovely, fingers crossed we'll be able to muster up something similar to the piccies ;)

Enjoy the rest of your weekends everyone!
