Wonky bunny ears

Hello everyone, I hope that you are having lovely weekends. Seems like a while now that I last posted a post... honestly where does the time go I wish we have more of it I really do!

I wanted to share with you a couple of makes that I have been working on recently...

This idea is from Martha Stewart and her pattern for 'Menswear Bunnies' which can be found in her book and also website - http://www.marthastewart.com/how-to/stuffed-bunny . Although I decided to use some of my favourite gingham fabrics and some more florally fabric for the ears.

I wanted to make them a bit more smiley to so after a few google searches taught myself how to embroider Satin stitch to do the eyes, nose and mouth.

As you will see, the poor green rabbit has back-to-front ears due to an error on my part during the sewing process. I have flip-reversed his ear for the photo to show you how it should have looked at the front...

Had a fab day today at the Battersea Car Boot Sale... even though we got drenched! Post to follow soon showing all the little treasures I found...

I noticed that recently I have reached 100 followers! Thank you lovely fellow bloggers for following me and also for your comments. It's fab to read all the other crafty and home made blogs out there it is very inspiring.

To mark the occasion I am planning a giveaway to include a selection of crafty goodies and vintage treasures - details to follow soon...!

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday

Sarah

  3. Hi lovely, we were certainly the soggiest bargain hunters out today! Love the bunnies, so cute. Funny cos someone had the Martha Stewart sewing book at craft group and I saw the tweed bunnies in it - yours look a lot more Eastery though. And Mr Green rabbit looks sweet with his ear floppy like that!

  7. Adorable, colourful bunnies! Mistakes can make things more original and sometimes be an advantage in creating things!(It wasn't noticeable at all, anyway!) I love the fabrics you used and the little embroidered faces are lovely. Have a great week.

  11. Hi Sarah, thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a lovely comment - there seem to be a lot of us like minded bloggers out there!
Love the cute little gingham bunnies - you've got their expressions perfect!
I remember making a similar little blue cotton bunny with red gingham lined ears, with matching shorts and jacket for my daughter when she was little - we called him blue Peter cos she already had Peter rabbit but wanted to call him Peter too! He was stuffed with old tights cos i didnt have any stuffing, so was a bit flat looking, but he's been well loved and is still around somewhere......
